about all shades of green
All Shades of Green is a retail store, design center, and educational hub in Silver Lake that serves as a meaningful resource for Angelenos who want to “go green” from head to toe, kitchen to garden, and home to office. We provide sustainable products of all stripes from clothing to building materials, along with the tools, guidance, and inspiration to live eco-consciously in all aspects of life while enjoying beautiful, earth-friendly things.
STORE All Shades of Green carries products that aren’t just “greenwashed,” but are carefully selected and worthy of a green label. Our serene space stocks anything and everything for your kitchen, dresser, cleaning cabinet, jewelry box, and closet, all made by green businesses, artisans, and fair trade groups worth supporting. The store is calm and inviting while featuring deliberate design elements like bamboo floors and shelves, non-toxic, no VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, and cozy, energy-efficient lighting.
DESIGN CENTER All Shades has a number of resources to offer, among them, a staff of experts in eco-conscious living. You can make an appointment with the Design Center for help choosing innovative, beautiful home materials including cork flooring, distinctive room dividers, and custom concrete countertops, as well as water and energy-saving devices. The store’s own remodeling is testament to how far non-toxic, sustainable materials can go in creating a peaceful, healthy space.
EDUCATION All Shades has also made a commitment to spreading environmental awareness to the community. Beyond promoting local non-profits that are making a difference, a landscape designer on the All Shades staff can help you grow a truly green yard. Plus, we hold an array of workshops throughout the year with a seasoned sustainability coach who explores relevant green living topics to help you find real solutions to create a life in line with your principles. (She can even follow you home for a tailored consultation if you like.)
All Shades of Green offers: A green home design center, workshops on eco-conscious living topics, sustainability coaching, landscaping consultation. about the founder
Liza Shtromberg is a well-known member of the Los Angeles community. She has been designing one of a kind, globally-inspired jewelry for twenty years in Los Feliz, was a founding parent of an area charter school, and operated the eclectic boutique, Island LS, in Silver Lake.In September of 2007, Liza re-imagined her boutique’s space on Rowena Avenue to be a sustainable, eco-friendly store and center for the East Side.
All Shades of Green was born.
Liza’s background set in motion a lifelong search for harmony—with other cultures, with her values, and with nature. She was a little girl in Russia and a teenager in Israel, and it was there that her participation in a youth movement introduced her to the importance of conservation and social justice. Now, she is combining those two ideas while studying in a yearlong academic program at Israel’s Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, a groundbreaking school where Jewish, Arab and international students study together on a kibbutz in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation, looking for sustainable answers to environmental problems.
